Wine Standards

Wine standards of Rioja and Ribera regions

There are more than a thousand manufacturers in these two most famous regions of Spain. Every bodega produces wine differently. Contrary to popular belief, there is no particular standard in each region. The taste of wine is created by a winemaker with their understanding of the climate, grape varieties, and soil.

A successful winemaker can repeat their product anywhere. We would better recommend paying attention to the producer (bodega) and the grape variety, as the region won’t tell you much of a wine taste.

Rosé is made by mixing red and white wine

Originally rosé wine came from mixing reds and whites and was sold cheaply. But generally, Rosé is not made this way. Two words matter here: skin and contact.

We would better recommend paying attention to the producer (bodega) and the grape variety, as the region won’t tell you much of a wine taste.

To make rosé, the desired grape is pressed and left in contact with the skins for a very short period. That means rosé can be made from red grapes or white grapes, or a combination of both. Although rosés are often blended, they are so much more complicated than just mixing a cup of red and a cup of white wine.
